We’re very excited to announce that ABC's Lateline program is airing a new feature on How to cool our cities by cooling our roads.
The Lateline show is a big opportunity to draw attention to the benefits of cooling our cities. With the introduction of pale roads, pale roofs and more trees we can reduce temperatures by several degrees, cut air con bills and reduce air pollution by significant amounts.
Show your support: share it with your friends on Facebook & Twitter.
Our dream is to cool Chippendale by 2 degrees before 2020.
Here at Sustainable Chippendale we're hoping this Lateline program will help achieve an, 'Oh, I've got it' moment'. We think it will help to build momentum for change and understanding in the community, our governments and their agencies.
We've been working with the City of Sydney and the NSW government to build a trial cool road to show we can cool our cities by building cool roads. The first trial cool road gets built in Chippendale in June using pale, reflective media instead of black tar. The idea is in the Sustainable Communities Plan drafted for us by Michael Mobbs - for more information visits the Cool Roads section of the Sustainable Chippendale site.
Take Action: Watch Lateline and spread the word about it by email, Twitter, Facebook and word of mouth.
